It’s when the shipping times slip that new stuff is probably around the corner.
Recently, shipping times for the current generation of Apple TV has slipped to 1-2 weeks, as opposed to “in stock” or “1 day”.
The change hints towards a next-generation Apple TV that’s rumored to feature slimmer hardware, a new tactile remote, and a redesigned operating system with App Store-like functionality.
The new Apple TV is rumored for a WWDC announcement, WWDC taking place from June 8-12.
Apple last refreshed its third-gen Apple TV quietly in March 2013 with upgraded internals, but apart from a few iOS 8 features it has remained the same as the previous model released in March 2012.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
