Roger Kasten Jr. of Newer Technology has dropped us a note informing us that Newer Technology has laid off its staff and will likely file for bankruptcy early next year. Here is the first part of the note confirming the bad news:
WICHITA, KS, USA – December 29, 2000 – Newer Technology, the technology leader in Apple [NASDAQ: AAPL] Macintosh CPU upgrades, sent notice to employees alerting them that their services were no longer required. The note is pretty big, but a good read that gives you an idea of the immense talent and comraderie at one of the few Macintosh upgrade-card shops around. We didn’t think Roger would mind if we posted his note here, so here it is. We’re definitely sad to see Newer Tech go, which definitely has been a pillar in the Macintosh community for many years now. (I still remember wanting to buy a PowerClip!) Best of luck and best wishes to Roger and everyone at the company. We’ll post more information as we get it. -drwill
