Not only did Apple wrangle HBO into their corner, they’re dropping the price of the Apple TV.
Following Apple’s announcement that HBO Now is coming exclusively to Apple TV, company CEO Tim Cook said the price of the set top box is dropping from US$99 to US$69. The price cut was made, according to Mr. Cook, to make Apple TV more accessable to an even larger audience.
The set top device received a US$30 price cut following HBO Now exclusive channel announcement.
News of Apple TV’s price drop came during the company’s “Spring forward” media event Monday morning. The event also included the news of HBO Now’s April launch for US$14.99 a month without requiring a cable or satellite TV package.
Not a bad thing at all.
