What do you do with you iPhone when you sit down at your desk? You probably plug it in and leave it sitting flat on the surface of your desk. The problem with doing this is that your iPhone is practically invisible when it’s laying flat and not really that useful. If an alert comes in you need to pick up your iPhone to read the screen.
The HiRise Deluxe stand from Twelve South ($60) is a sleek stand that elegantly solves this problem. It allows you to dock your iPhone (or iPad) at a comfortable viewing angle making it more accessible while charging on your desk. It’s perfect for keeping an eye on push notifications while you get your work done, but it’s also convenient for making phone and FaceTime calls.
The new HiRise Deluxe stand features and easy-to-adjust rear support, making it easily to switch between an iPhone and an iPad of different thicknesses. The cable height at the bottom of the stand is also adjustable allowing you to use it with or without a case. If you’re using a thicker, impact-type case on your iPhone simply raise the height of the cable so that it reaches inside the case opening to properly charge the device.
A major improvement over the previous HiRise stand is the re-engineered rear support, which can be adjusted to accommodate thicker devices and larger cases with the turn of a knob. (The previous HiRise stand required an easily-lost allen wrench to be adjusted). The upgraded Hi-Rise Deluxe ships with both MFi-certified Lightning and Micro USB cables meaning that you can use it with just about any Android smartphone or tablet.
It costs $25 more than the original HiRise stand, but for that you get two bundled cables, tool-free adjusting and a new gold option that perfectly matches the gold iPhones and iPads. It’s a small price to pay for the included cables and other upgrades that come in the new model. The HiRise Deluxe stand is a great solution for docking your iPhone on a nightstand or desk (or both) and while I wish it cost $10 less, it’s a useful accessory that allows you to get more mileage out of your iPhone.
If that’s even possible.

The information on their website is WRONG. They claim the stand works with Apple’s Lightning cables (except the thicker 2m version), but in fact it works with NONE of Apple’s cables because the connecter they use in the clip on the stand is actually much larger than the equivalent Apple connector. They do supply this cable, but it’s quite disappointing that the stand only works with TwelveSouth’s “proprietary” connector.
