Mac Drivers for Sony's eMarker Imminent

eMarker is a cool time stamp peripheral that I first discovered at Comdex Fall 2000 back in November.

It works like this: when you hear a song on the radio that you like, simply press the button on the unit and it records the time and date when it was pressed. When you get to a computer with an Internet connection, pop the top and plug the eMarker into an available USB port. You are then taken to a special page that lists the songs that were playing at the time you made the marks! You can then preview and/or buy any of the music you selected.

It works after you set up an account at the eMarker Web site. You select the three main radio stations that you usually listen to and eMarker shows you the names of the songs that were playing on each when you made the mark. Usually it is pretty easy to remember which of the three songs was playing. Music samples for some songs are available in Windows Media Player.

According to sources a Macintosh driver of the eMarker software is in the making and should be released by the end of March. In the mean time I have had good luck in getting it to work with Virtual PC 4.01 and the driver for Windows 98.

The eMarker is only US$19.99 from Amazon.com (buying from this link helps support Go2Mac). Stay tuned for a full review of what may be one of the coolest accessories ever when the Mac software is released.
